Orange & Gin Chutney

Made with the bald oranges left over after our neighbours Silent Pool Distillers use the peel in their fabulous gin, this slightly bitter, spiced chutney is a firm favourite. Enjoy with cheese, poppadums, crackers, in bread and better pudding or just on its own!

In 2020 it was awarded two stars in the Great Taste awards – “An excellent example of using otherwise wasted ingredients to make a delicious new product. These oranges are full of bright citrus flavour paired with warm spices and the unmistakable botanical hit of gin. All three combined with a little sugar harmonise for a delicious experience that would be wonderful with cheeses or an Indian inspired dish. The spices are subtle and don’t give a ‘spicy’ heat, more of a gentle warmth, but overall this is very tasty and definitely unique.”

Fabulous spread, and so much of it! Mandira catered for our family get together last weekend. There were 12 adults and plenty of food for us all. The samosas were the biggest hit, i was lucky to get one for myself. The food was delivered to our door, on time and in serving platters that went from oven to table. So easy to warm up and serve and some of the best curry dishes we’ve had. We will definitely be back for more. Thank you

What a superb experience! A group of nine visited the restaurant on Saturday 25 June and had an amazing time. The outside setting overlooking the Silent pool is lovely. The staff where excellent and considering the group size the meals all arrived together. The food itself was delicious, so flavoursome and every plate was emptied.

I highly recommend Mandira’s to one and all.

The biggest challenge for me cooking proper Indian food was the complexity and range of spices and ingredients and how to handle them. Mandira totally demystified and simplified the whole process. Exactly what you need to make awesome Indian cuisine. Thank you! Also how to cook rice properly without washing out the flavour or burning it to the base of a pan. That alone is enough to make the whole thing worthwhile. Brilliant 🙂
