See our menu firstYou will find a few kinds of company when you search for healthy Indian ready meals or frozen curry delivered. All decent, all different. Here is how to tell them apart.
| Type of company | What they do well |
|---|---|
| The health-led kitchens | Frozen Indian meals with a wellness focus: doctor-reviewed recipes, gluten-free kitchens, lean cuts, calorie counts. Strong if nutrition numbers are your first filter. |
| The chef and restaurant brands | Award-winning restaurant chefs boxing up their menus for nationwide delivery. Restaurant polish, restaurant recipes. |
| The big frozen food chains | Large national ranges covering many cuisines, with shops on the high street. Reliable, widely available, one aisle among many. |
| The meal kit companies | Shelf-stable freeze-dried kits you finish yourself in minutes. Clever for travel and tiny kitchens; not complete cooked meals. |
| Mandira's Kitchen (Surrey Hills) | Small batch complete meals cooked in a 400-year-old converted cowshed by the Silent Pool. Spices from single estates in India. 11 Great Taste Awards. Endorsed by Nigella Lawson. Free UK delivery over £75. |
Wherever you land, check the same three things: when the food was frozen, what is on the ingredients list, and where the spices came from. We are happy to be judged on all three.
Everyone else brought India to the city. Mandira brought it to the land. Our food is cooked where it is grown-adjacent: a barn on a Surrey estate, spices from named farms, recipes from a childhood on an Assam tea plantation. If that story matters to you, you will taste it. If it does not, you will still taste it, you just will not know why.
Start with the bestsellers or a bundle, and decide for yourself.
A handful of companies deliver frozen Indian food nationwide: health-led kitchens in the north, chef-run restaurant brands, large frozen food chains, and small batch makers like Mandira's Kitchen in the Surrey Hills. Each takes a different approach, and this page describes the field fairly so you can choose well.
The short answer: we are the smallest and the most provenance-led. Single-estate spices from named farms in India, small batch cooking in a 400-year-old converted cowshed by the Silent Pool, 11 Great Taste Awards, and Nigella Lawson's endorsement. Others are excellent at scale or at health positioning; our lane is story and sourcing.
Usually, yes. Good frozen meals are blast frozen at their peak, contain far less oil and salt, list every ingredient honestly, and cost less per head. The takeaway wins only on somebody else doing the washing up, and there is not much washing up either way.
Look for three things: blast freezing within minutes of cooking rather than slow freezing, an ingredients list that reads like a recipe rather than a chemistry set, and a clear story about where the spices come from. Any company that scores on all three will feed you well.
The Butter Chicken and the hand rolled samosas are where most people start. The Kaju Dhania Murgh holds a Great Taste Award. The bundles are the best value way to try a spread.
