Description
My grandmother's recipe. Five seasonal vegetables cooked with panch phoron, the five whole spices Bengal keeps for itself, in a little mustard oil. This is home cooking, handed down and never written on a restaurant menu, which is exactly why I love making it. There is nothing tricky or fierce about it, just honest, gently spiced vegetables. Serve it with rice and a dal for the sort of everyday plate we grew up eating.
