Mandira’s Kitchen A Royal Visit – Our Official Opening

Mandiras Kitchen Royal Visit from Price Edward

We had such a special visitor last week, here is the report of our wonderful encounter with Prince Edward, The Earl of Wessex…

An enthusiastic crowd greeted the Earl of Wessex as he visited the premises of Albury based caterers Mandira’s Kitchen as part of his recent tour celebrating the work of Surrey Hills Enterprises.

Prince Edward was greeted by company owner, Mandira Sarkar and was introduced to members of the team behind the continued success of her business including the chefs responsible for producing the authentic Indian dishes enjoyed by so many people across the region.

Representatives from the Surrey farm shop suppliers of Mandira’s Kitchen products were also on hand to enjoy a taste of the rather special chicken biryani which was recently crowned Food Product of the Year at the Surrey Life Food and Drink Awards.

The Earl of Wessex then moved outside to the delight of the assembled group to unveil a commemorative plaque marking the official opening of the new kitchen and shop premises adjacent to the Silent Pool Distillery. His Royal Highness spent time talking and laughing with a number of people before making his way to the Albury Vineyard on the next step of his tour.

‘We are obviously thrilled to have had such a distinguished guest to open our new premises,’ said Mandira, adding, ‘Days like today show us just how far the business has grown in such a short space of time and it was a pleasure to hear how enthusiastic the Earl is about the development of the rural economy and the use of sustainable local produce.’

Surrey Hills Enterprises is the Community Interest Company formed in 2012 to support and develop local businesses, promoting and protecting the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
